The people of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church & School understand that our call as Christians requires not only the transformation of the self, but also a response to those in need in our community and beyond.
Community of Hope
Community of Hope members visit elderly people in their homes as well as those living in two local nursing homes. They stop by and visit, play games, read books or just hold a hand. Please contact the church office for more information about getting the training to make you feel comfortable serving this outreach ministry.
Our ministry welcomes and answers any call for help, in good times and in bad, in sickness and health. All conversations will be held in confidence and honored.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Reaching out in love and concern for others is a central concept of Jesus' ministry. The prayer shawl group provides handmade shawls and blankets for those within the community who are facing illness as a tangible reminder of God's love for them. Meetings are Thursday mornings and all are welcome to attend.
Pastoral Care involves the Biblical imperative to feed the hungry, give the thirsty a drink of cold water, and visit the sick and those in prison.
Both through monetary and food donations, and through hands-on ministry, this group plans and coordinates activities to assist those in need.
The Open Table
Open Table is Coming to Holy Spirit!
Open Table is a national movement whose model is used by faith communities to reach out to those in poverty. Open Table's vision statement is "movement of servants restoring people in poverty to our communities through relationship and the investment of our own vocational and life experiences and personal networks." For more information about Open Table, visit www.theopentable.org.
Our first table will be forming soon. Contact Anne Yusim (email@example.com) or Fr. Chris for more information.
The Dripping Springs MOPS group is a community that strives to meet the needs of local moms with children from birth through, and including, kindergarten. They meet monthly to celebrate the joys of motherhood and to support each other through the challenges, all while learning they are not alone on this journey. Meetings are casual, lighthearted, and fun and feature either a guest speaker or a dedicated creative activity that pertains to motherhood. MOPS meets on the SECOND Friday of each month from 9-11 a.m. in the Parish Hall.
Evangelism is our opportunity to share the joy and peace we find in Christ. Both by welcoming people into our midst and by going out to engage the world around us, we are called to be God's presence in the world around us.
Activities include writing thank you for visiting notes and organizing welcoming gifts and activities such as luncheons.
